Items have been modified by skillful, reputable silversmiths to create custom pieces that are extremely rare or virtually unavailable elsewhere. Especially in discontinued patterns, items with minor damage (a teaspoon down the garbage disposal, for example) are given new life when the pattern is in good condition. This sort of piece is a staple in the sterling silver industry and are widely offered by mainstream sterling silver dealers. However, many dealers do not disclose this process. Always read each description carefully!
Examples include (but may not be restricted to) condiment ladles, horseradish spoons, pate serving spoons, bread/cake knives, cheese cleavers, pasta scoops, soup ladles, punch ladles, asparagus servers, some pie/pastry servers and salad serving sets.
Hollow Handle, or HH, custom pieces consist of an original sterling silver pattern handle (usually vintage in excellent condition) paired with a brand new stainless steel blade or chrome serving implement. Often, but not always, original manufacturers do not include hallmarks on hollow sterling handles. Please rest assured that Southern Silver only buys, refurbishes and sells 100% authentic and genuine sterling flatware.
